Several thousand people, young and old, gathered from all over to enjoy the sun at the fun-filled event at the Waterworks on 29 April 2007.
One of the successes of the event included sculptured wood carving of herons that will remain a feature in the park. Other activities included boat trips, face painting, a dog show, archery, falconry, bouncy castles and much, much more.
The Fire Service also attended and local children were delighted to be shown the equipment and sit in a fire engine.
Food and craft stalls were available as well as an information stall on the local PIPS initiative. Competitions took place throughout the day with prizes ranging from bicycles and microwaves to fishing club membership and a meal for two.
Nearby residents thanked the Friends of the Waterworks Committee for all their hard work to bring life and activities back into the park and were pleased with the success of the day.
Another event is planned for 10 June 2007 so please come along and show your support as it promises to be a bigger and better event.
