The Employability Access Project (EAP) is delighted to announce that fourteen participants involved in the first EAP pre - employment programmes have gained employment, or are due to commence employment, at the Mater Hospital and North and West Belfast Health and Social Services Trust (NWBHSST).
Personal development, confidence building, job preparation training and help with the application process has been delivered to over 40 participants over 4 week periods, followed by a 2 week job shadow, at the Mater Hospital and NWBHSST, experiencing entry level posts (domestic, laundry, catering and care assistant (elderly units) roles). All participants are guaranteed an interview for an entry level post upon successful completion of the programme.
All of the people who gained employment through the EAP programme have been out of work for an average of over 6 years, including two participants re-entering the world of work after over 10 years raising a family and caring for an elderly relative.
Following the success of the first three EAP Pre Employment Programmes training is currently being delivered to 12 participants with a further programme planned for October 2006. EAP Pre employment programmes will be delivered until June 2007.
