New Neighbourhood Warden Appointed for North Belfast
Date: 27/04/2006
Danielle Humphries The Housing Executive is pleased to announce that Danielle Humphries has been appointed as Neighbourhood Warden. Danielle will be looking after the nine multi storey blocks at New Lodge and Mount Vernon and the Carrick Hill area.

Danielle was delighted with her appointment and speaking about her new role said:

“I am really looking forward to this new and challenging post. My role is to complement the services already provided by District staff, but will also include daily contact with residents and community groups, who through me can report matters such as repairs, vacant properties, vandalism, and general anti-social behaviour.”

Sean McKenna, the Housing Executive’s local District Manager added:

“This is an important role, which provides additional contact with our tenants. I hope Danielle will soon become a familiar presence in our estates and as her role develops we hope that tenants will come to rely on her and work with her to improve housing conditions in their community.

The Housing Executive believes that good housing strengthens the community. The Neighbourhood Warden Service links in well with other Housing Executive services and other statutory organisations, to ensure that estates are maintained in a clean and tidy condition. Danielle will also have an important part to play in the area of community safety and tackling general anti-social behaviour, which is of major concern to the local community.”

Liam Wiggins from the Seven Towers Committee welcomed the news and said:

“Tenants in North Belfast have come to value the role of the Neighbourhood Warden and have already reaped many benefits from the service. This further appointment demonstrates the Housing Executive’s commitment to working alongside the community and other statutory agencies to bring about improvements and reduce opportunities for anti social behaviour and vandalism in these areas.”

Moira Wylie from Mount Vernon echoed those sentiments and added:

“The introduction of the Neighbourhood Warden Service will have a very positive impact in the area and we are delighted to welcome Danielle into the fold. We will be working closely with her to ensure that improvements already made are maintained and to identify other areas where improvements would be beneficial to the entire community.”
