The Employability Access Project is delighted to announce that four participants involved in the first pre employment programme have gained employment at the Mater hospital. One further participant is awaiting interview at the North and West Belfast Health and Social Services Trust (NWHSST).
“Before this programme I wanted jobs to happen. Now I feel I can go and get them and be confident that I can do the job well”. Programme 1 participant
Personal development, confidence building, job preparation training and help with the health sector job application process was delivered to 12 participants over 6 weeks followed by 6 participants completing a 2 week job shadow at the Mater Hospital and NWHSST experiencing entry level posts (domestic, laundry, catering and portering roles). All participants are guaranteed an interview for an entry level post upon successful completion of the programme.
“The job shadowing is brilliant, my experience could not have been better…I feel like I’m really helping people”. Programme 1 participant
All of the people who gained employment through the EAP programme had been out of work for a considerable length of time with two of the people re-entering the world of work after over 10 years raising a family and caring for an elderly relative.
“The EAP has encouraged me to move forward. I have met new friends and the job shadowing has built my confidence”. Programme 1 participant
Following the success of the first Employability Access Project Pre Employment Programme further programmes will be delivered in April and May and future 2006/2007 programme dates will be announced at a later date.
“This is the best thing that’s happened to me in the past 10 years”. Programme 1 participant
