Board

North Belfast Partnership Board consists of community / voluntary sector representatives, key statutory agencies, local politicians and social partners. Please find the list of the current (as of December 2011) executive board membership below.

 

Peter Kelly - Marsh Ltd - Chair

Peter is responsible for running the Belfast and Londonderry Offices of Marsh Ltd and has worked for Marsh Ltd for 28 years. His area of expertise is Professional Indemnity and Directors & Officers Liability insurance. His extra- curricular activities include being a Board Member of the British Insurance Brokers Association, past Chairman of the Northern Ireland Region of the British Insurance Brokers Association and a Council member of the Belfast Insurance Institute. He is also Chairman of the Belfast Business in the Community Leadership Team and a member of the Belfast Social Impact Leadership Team for BITC. He is also a Council member of the Belfast Insurance Institute Council member of the Belfast Insurance Institute and currently President of Belfast Harlequins Men's Hockey Club. Peter is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Insurance Broker.

Sharon Beattie

Sharon Beattie – Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE)

Sharon is the North Belfast Strategy Manager for NIHE, has been on the board of North Belfast Partnership since October 2001 and a member of the Programme management Executive since August 2002. She has worked for the Housing Executive since 1982 and has extensive experience in working with local communities in respect of housing services. Sharon is also a director of Inner North Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership.

 Sam Burns

Sam Burns – North Belfast Employment Centre

Sam has been a director of the Partnership since its inception in October 1999. Sam has worked for approximately 15 years in all aspects of Community Development with a range of experience from social problems to economic development. He currently works for North Belfast Employment Centre who are based in North City Business Centre and is also involved with the North Belfast Community Support Group, CPL Committee and Local Strategic Partnership Board.

Pat Convery

Cllr Patrick Convery - Belfast City Council (SDLP)

Pat Convery, is a SDLP Councillor on Belfast City Council.  He was elected Lord Mayor of Belfast on 1 June 2010 for a 1 year term. He has represented the Castle area of north Belfast since being elected to Belfast City Council in June 2001. He is Vice-Chairman on the SDLP, a Belfast Harbour Commissioner, a member of the North Belfast Partnership and a former Chairman of the Belfast District Policing Partnership. He also served as Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast from 2005 to 2006. 

Tierna Cunningham

Cllr Tierna Cunningham - Belfast City Council (Sinn Fein)

Tierna has been a member of the Board since November 2005 and has been working in the Community/Voluntary Sector for 8 years. She is passionate about youth issues, dealing with social exclusion and interface intervention and has been involved in addressing a number of key issues in the North Belfast community. She is currently a Youth Worker for Tar Isteach and is also involved in the Greater New Lodge Community Festival and New Lodge Youth Providers Forum.Environmental issues are also high on Tierna's priorities.

 

Maria Morgan - Ligoniel Improvement Association

Maria Morgan is Chief Executive of Ligoniel Improvement Association.

 

David Browne - Belfast City Council (UUP)

David is a UUP city councillor for the city's Castle ward.

 

Lydia Patterson - Belfast City Council (DUP)

Lydia Patterson is a local candidate, born and raised in North Belfast. Lydia was educated at Graymount Girls Secondary School and is a professional welfare rights advisor who has previously worked in the Lower North Belfast Advice Service. Lydia currently manages Nelson McCausland’s constituency Advice Centre, having previously assisted Nigel Dodds MP

 

Joan Peden - Belfast Health and Social Care Trust

Joan is employed as a Co-Director in Human Resources, leading Workforce Modernisation, Equality and Improving Working Lives within the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. Prior to this Joan was employed as a Director of Corporate Development in the Mater Hospital with responsibility for a range of corporate functions including Human Resources, Equality and Support functions. In her current role Joan and her teams have responsibility working within the Trust on workforce modernisation programmes, working towards reducing health and social inequalities, promoting equality of opportunity and improving working lives programmes for staff.
