Empoyability Access Project European Exchange
|
Date: 18/05/2007
|
17- 18 May 2007
EAP, funded by the European Social Fund under the Northern Ireland EQUAL Community Initiative Programme and the Department for Employment and Learning, is delivering pre employment training programmes for long term unemployed and economically inactive residents of North Belfast, whilst reviewing and where appropriate amending the recruitment and selection practices in the Belfast Trust to build better linkages between the supply of and demand for quality jobs.
The success of the Employability Access Project, a unique partnership between North Belfast Partnership, the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and a number of key stakeholders interested in improving employment opportunities for North Belfast residents, continues into 2007.
In addition to the North Belfast based activity EAP is involved in the Cooperation for Employment (CoFE) Partnership incorporating EQUAL funded projects from Castilla La Mancha - Spain, Milan - Italy and Tallaght – Dublin.
CoFE partners have formed a common strategy to address a number of specific common interests within the overall theme of employability and facilitating access/ return to the labour market, with pointed focus on entry level positions and care provision services within the Health Sector.
Successful staff/partnership exchanges have taken place in Milan, Castilla la Mancha and Tallaght and the final CoFE Exchange is taking place in Belfast on 17th&18th May 2007. EAP will be hosting 30 European colleagues from the CoFE partner organisations, the theme of the exchange is Welfare to Work Strategies.
The CoFE partnership has, over the past 2 years worked towards the development and operation of an effective and creative learning network to support the exchange of experience, facilitate cross project learning, enabling the sharing and testing of new approaches to improve the employability of people currently distant from, or vulnerable in, the labour market. To date CoFE partners have produced a website, good practice guide and comparative analysis detailing country specific examples of employability strategy and practice targeting disadvantaged and marginalised groups.
