EAP Pilot Programme
|
Date: 16/01/2006
|
To improve and promote access to employment opportunities in the health sector, the Employability Access Project (EAP) will commence a pilot programme for 10 participants on 16th January 2006, consisting of a 6 week personal development and pre employment preparation programme of 10 hours per week, followed by a 2 week job shadowing opportunity within the Mater Hospital or NWHSST. The programme incorporates the STEPS personal development course to address lack of confidence and self esteem, improve communication skills and confidence coupled with basic assistance to complete the required application forms, interview techniques, site visits and job shadowing opportunities within the Mater hospital and NWHSST.
Early completion of reference requests and occupational health forms will speed up the recruitment process and upon successful completion of the programme participants will be invited to interview for an entry level job (catering, domestic, laundry or care assistant) within the Mater Hospital or NWHSST. EAP development staff will act as personal mentors/advisers throughout the programme and into employment.
Allowances for travel, child/dependent care and lunches will be paid by EAP during the programme. We intend to deliver 10 programmes for 10 people (total 100) with the first programme starting in January 2006 and the final programme ending in June 2007. Entry requirements are simple - participants must live in North Belfast, be aged 18 or over and have been out of work for 6 months or more.
